Tony wasn’t one to get jealous… Especially of his best friend. He’d walk down the hallway, past the lab, and would hear laughter. Naturally curious (each time, for whatever reason), he’d go check it out. It’d be Bruce and his new intern, (y/n). She was cute, in her own little way; (h/l), (h/c) hair, curious (e/c) orbs hidden behind thick frames (if you don’t have glasses, now you do. Deal.), and her body always buried beneath large sweatshirts, jeans, and that ratty lab coat she always insists on wearing. As soon as they realized he was there, they’d go back to what they were doing. It pissed him off to no end.

He didn’t know why, of course.

Well… Maybe he did.

Tony sat down on the leather couch with a huff and a glass of bourbon. All he wanted to do was talk to you. He was a bit jealous, and that didn’t sit well with the billionaire. Not at all.

The door behind him opened, then footsteps quickly came in. “Doctor Banner, you need to-” The female voice stopped abruptly, along with the incoming steps, as Tony turned his head. “Sorry, Mister Stark, I thought you were-”

“Bruce?”

The girl nodded, a light blush crossed her soft features; barely noticeable, but still enough to see change. “I’ll go somewhere else, leave you-”

“No! I mean; nah, you’re not bothering me a bit,” Tony scratched the back of his head awkwardly. “In fact, have a seat. Drink?” The man asked as he went to the little corner bar.

“Um… No, thanks.”

“Oh,” He says lightly as he pours himself some more bourbon in his glass. He was thinking of how to start a conversation when she beat him to it.

“Do you know where Doctor Banner is? I need to give these to him.” She gestured to the stack of folders she’d set down on the glass coffee table in front of her.

“Um… Don’t think so.” Tony said as he sat back down. How to continue. “So…” He leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees and chin in palm. “What’re you guys working on?”

“Oh… Nothing in particular, I don’t think. Just mixing some chemicals, really,” She shrugged as she repositioned her glasses. “He went to go get lunch and to do something else when this… thing… happened and I have no idea how to continue.” Tony eyed the papers. Just one look couldn’t hurt…

He didn’t even realize he was reaching the papers when you slapped his hand, saying a simple “need to know.” He huffed again and sat back in his chair, taking another sip of this beverage. “So what are you into?” He asked nonchalantly.

The female sputtered. “Wh-what?”

“Oh, I know you heard me. What’re you into?”

“I’m going to go…” She said as she grabbed the papers and stood, quickly leaving the room. It wasn’t until after you left did he realize his mistake.

He slapped his forehead. “I meant foods. What foods are you into. Goddamnit, Tony…”

~~

Tony walked past the labs, just to see if (y/n) was there and to clarify what he meant. She wasn’t, but his good buddy Bruce was!

“Hey buddy!” Tony exclaimed as he patted the scientist on the shoulder.

All Bruce did was look over his shoulder and sighed as he turned back to his work. “Whatcha need, Tony?”

“What, can’t a person say hi to his favorite guy?” All Tony received was a look. “Alright fine… Where’s (y/n)?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, I wanted to, uh, talk to her.” It took a second before Bruce chuckled some. “What?”

“You, Tony, don’t just talk to women. You want something from her. What is it?”

“I just wanted a talk.”

“Sure you did. And if I ask JARVIS…?”

“You wouldn’t dare…”

“Want to test that?”

“Fine…. I want her attention, Bruce. Ever since she came to work here, she’s been hanging with you here every day and I, ugh!” Tony rubbed his face. “Yesterday, she was looking for you to show you something, and thought I was you. Until I turned around. We had a talk and I ended up scaring her off… I just came by to apologize.” Bruce was silent for a moment. “Yeah, thanks buddy. I’ll go-”

“She’s in the dining room.” Bruce stated, almost amusedly.

“Thanks man!” Tony walked to the door.

~~

The billionaire walked down the corridors until he reached the cafeteria. He stood at the doorway, watching the woman he was searching for at the dining table. She was facing him, but not looking. She was reading a book. Squinting so he could read it, he realized it was a collection of Shakespeare’s work. And idea formed in his head as she rested her cheek in her hand.

He took a breath and began, “But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, who is already sick and pale with grief, that thou her maid art far more fair than she: be not her maid, since she is envious; her vestal livery is but sick and green and none but fools do wear it; cast it off. It is my lady, oh, it is my love! Oh, that she knew she were! She speaks yet she says nothing: what of that? Her eye discourses; I will answer it. I am too bold, 'tis not to me she speaks: two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, having some business, do entreat her eyes to twinkle in their spheres till they return. What if her eyes were there, they in her head? The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars, as daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven would through the airy region stream so bright that birds would sing and think it were not night. See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand! Oh, that I were a glove upon that hand, that I might touch that cheek!” He paused. He knew he had her attention now, seeing a light blush adorn her cheeks. He whispered slightly. “Isn’t that where Juliet says something?”

(y/n) sighed and set down her book. “What do you need, Mister Stark?”

“Come on, just play along. And if you forget the lines, you’ve got the play right there.”

A pause before, “Aye me!”

Tony nodded before continuing. “She speaks: Oh, speak again, bright angel! For thou are as glorious to this night, being o’er my head as is a winged messenger of heaven unto the white-upturned wondering eyes of mortals that fall back to gaze on him when he bestrides the lazy-pacing clouds and sails upon the bosom of the air.”

(y/n) giggles before continuing. “Oh Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name: or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I’ll no longer be a Capulet.”

“Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?”

“’Tis but thy name that is my enemy: thou art thyself, though not a Montague. What’s Montague? It is nor hand, nor foot, nor arm, nor face, nor any other part belonging to a man. Oh, be some other name! What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet; So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called, retain that dear perfection which he owes without that title. Romeo, doff thy name, and for that name which is no part of thee take all myself.”

Tony got down on his knees and placed his hands over his heart. “I take thee at thy word: Call me but love, and I’ll be new baptized; henceforth I never will be Romeo.”

(y/n) gasped slightly, really getting into it now. “What man art thou that thus bescreened in night so stumblest on my counsel?”

“A man who just came in to get a drink, thank you.” A voice said, making both adults at the table jump slightly. (y/n) blushed and Tony turned around to see a smirking Clint and a chuckling Thor.

“I never knew you could act so well, Lady (y/n).” Thor said, still chuckling some.

“I never knew Tony could, either. Tell me, Romeo,” Clint took a sip of his drink. “What were you doing?”

Tony recovered quickly and went to stand next to a still blushing (y/n). “I cameth to see dearest Lady (l/n) to seek her repentance,” He gave them an interesting look. “And I’m sure we don’t need an audience.”

Thor and Clint exchanged a glance before walking out of the room before Tony could do anything to them.

“S-so what was this ab-about ‘repentance’?” (y/n) stuttered, still trying to recover from being caught in the act… Quite literally.

“Hm?” Tony turned to look at her. “Oh, yes. Well, I came to say I’m sorry about… Upsetting you? Yeah, that wasn’t at all what I meant. I meant what kind of foods you like. Not… Whatever you thought.”

“Oh… Well, I like (food).” She stated meekly.

“Cool, cool…”

“Is… Is there anything else you needed, Mister Stark? I need to get back to the labs.”

“Huh? Oh, no, no. I just wanted to clarify… See you around!” Tony waved and walked off into an unknown direction.

(y/n) just stared after the billionaire and shook her head, closing her book while a look of amusement flickered across her face. “What a strange, strange man…”
Alright, so you and I both know that I don't own anything in this story but the story line, so we can rule that out. Oh! And I know that part of it is a handful to read, but you don't have to if you don't want to, but it's highly encouraged. So... Do that!

I also wanted to say that one of my friends (in person) had asked me if I could make a non-Homestuck fanfiction... So here you are, my dear friend!! (You know who you are). And sorry for being... Not so good with these things. Yups... So, enjoy!!
